Christ the Lord is risen today, alleluia
sons of men and angels say, alleluia
Raise your joys and triumphs high, alleluia
sing ye heavens and earth reply, alleluia

Lives again our glorious King, alleluia
where, O death, is now thy sting? alleluia
Once he died our souls to save, alleluia
where thy victory, O grave, alleluia

Love's redeeming work is done, alleluia
fought the fight the battle won, alleluia
Death in vain forbids him rise, alleluia
Christ has opened paradise, alleluia

Soar we now where Christ has led, alleluia
following our exalted Head, alleluia
Made like him, like him we rise, alleluia
ours the cross, the grave, the skies, alleluia

Easter Affirmation

This is the Good News---

the grave is empty, Christ is risen.

HALLELUJAH!

This is the Good News---

the light shines in the darkness and the darkness can never put it out.

HALLELUJAH!

This is the Good News---

Once we were no people, now we are God’s people.

HALLELUJAH!

Christ is our peace,

the indestructible peace we now share with each other.

Sharing Christ Peace

The Peace of Lord be with you.

         And also with you!

Offering

A life of generosity, for all who know Christ, means the opportunity to draw closer to God, now and in eternity. It means joy, a fulfilled heart, and the potential to store up treasures in heaven. Once you take hold of it, once you begin to feel the change generosity brings into your life, you will feel a strong calling to share the message with others.

The powers of death have done their worst

but Christ their legions has dispersed

Our Response

“Is He Worthy”     Andrew Petersen

Do you feel the world is broken - We do

Do you feel the shadows deepen - We do

But do you know that all the dark won't stop the light from getting through - We do

Do you wish that you could see it all made new - We do

Is all creation groaning - It is

Is a new creation coming - It is

Is the glory of the Lord to be the light within our midst - It is

Is it good that we remind ourselves of this - It is

Is anyone worthy, is anyone whole

Is anyone able to break the seal and open the scroll?

The Lion of Judah who conquered the grave

He is David's Root and the Lamb who died to ransom the slave

Is He worthy, is He worthy

of all blessing and honor and glory

Is He worthy of this - He is!

Does the Father truly love us - He does

Does the Spirit move among us - He does

And does Jesus, our Messiah, hold forever those He loves - He does

Does our God intend to dwell again with us - He does

Is anyone worthy, is anyone whole

Is anyone able to break the seal and open the scroll

The Lion of Judah who conquered the grave

He is David's Root and the Lamb who died to ransom the slave

From ev'ry people and tribe - every nation and tongue

He has made us a kingdom and priests to God to reign with the Son

Is He worthy, is He worthy of all blessing and honor and glory

Is He worthy, is He worthy

Is He worthy of this ------ He is!

Is He worthy, is He worthy - He is!

He is!

Easter Benediction

Our Risen King,

who is worthy of all blessing and honor and glory says,

“Behold, I am making all things new.”

As we go into the world, by the grace of God:

may we see the possibility of resurrection everywhere,

may we dance where there once was only mourning,

may we hear our hosannas turn into hallelujahs

and may we proclaim the Good News:

“Christ is risen!

He is risen indeed!”

Amen.

As has become tradition at Fifth Church,

we conclude worship on Easter Sunday morning

with the "Hallelujah Chorus" from Handel's Messiah.

You are invited to STAND & join in the singing on Easter Sunday!
