Today is the fourth week of Eastertide.

Easter has implications.

Jesus is – right now – the reigning and ruling King of the Universe.

Envisioning Jesus as the King he is also has implications.

We are called to a life of faith that involves not just thinking well of Jesus

but aligning every aspect of our lives to Jesus…

pursuing a Jesus-shaped life.

Today we begin to explore the implications of living in a world

where a resurrection has happened.

"He Leadeth Me Medley"  Randy Wolthuis
Gathering Time
He Leadeth Me - Savior Like a Shepherd.mRandy Wolthuis
00:00 / 04:10

Lyrics for reflection

He leadeth me, O, blessed thought; O, words with heavenly comfort fraught

Whate'er I do where'er I be, still 'tis God's hand that leadeth me

Chorus

He leadeth me, he leadeth me; by his own hand he leadeth me

His faithful follower I would be for by his hand he leadeth me

Sometimes 'mid scenes of deepest gloom, sometimes where Eden's bowers bloom

By water's calm o'er troubled sea, still 'tis God's hand that leadeth me

Savior, like a shepherd lead us, much we need thy tender care
In thy pleasant pastures feed us, for our use thy folds prepare

Chorus
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, thou hast bought us thine we are
Blessed Jesus blessed Jesus, thou hast bought us thine we are

Declaration of Trust & God's Greeting

People of Jesus Christ, in whom are you trusting?

Our help is in the name of the Lord,

who made heaven and earth!

Grace, mercy and peace to you in the name

of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Call to Worship

To the fisherman Jesus said:

“Follow me and I will make you fish for people.

To the tax collector Jesus said:

“Follow me.”

To the rich man Jesus said:

“Go, sell what you own, and give the money to the poor,

and you will have treasure in heaven;

then come, follow me.”

At the last supper Jesus said:

“Follow me.”

To you and to me and to all of us Jesus says:

Follow me!

Praise to Our Risen King

"God, You Spin the Whirling Planets" (Huber, 1980 / Ode to Joy-Beethoven)

(There are no vocals on the recording; please sing along with the organ accompaniment)

God You spin the whirling planets, fill the seas and spread the plain
mold the mountains, fashion blossoms, call forth sunshine, wind and rain
We created in your image would a true reflection be
of your justice, grace and mercy and the truth that makes us free

You have called us to be faithful in our life and ministry
we respond in grateful worship, joined in one community
When we blur your gracious image focus us and make us whole
healed and strengthened as your people we move onward toward your goal

God your will is still creating, calling us to life made new
now reveal to us fresh vistas where there's work to dare and do
Keep us clear of all distortion, fashion us with loving care
thus, new creatures in your image, we'll proclaim Christ everywhere

Time of Confession
Call to Confession   (2 Cor. 5:20-21)

"We implore you on Christ’s behalf: be reconciled to God.

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us,

so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."

Because we still live to ourselves and not completely to God and the people to which he sends us, we sing this song as our confession now. Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy.

Words of Assurance   (2 Cor 5:16-17)

From now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

Sharing Christ Peace  (1 Samuel 15, 2 Corinthians 5)

Because God has given us his peace, we are invited to share the peace of Christ with others. Whether digitally through a text message or by turning to someone next to you, share the peace of Christ now with the words: "The peace of Christ be with you!" If you are on the receiving end of these words, you are invited to reply, "And also with you."

God calls us in surprising ways,
inviting us into a new creation.
Share the good news with one another:

The Peace of Christ be with you.

          And also with you!

Lyrics for prayerful reflection
Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil:
for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. A-men.
Offering

A life of generosity, for all who know Christ, means the opportunity to draw closer to God, now and in eternity. It means joy, a fulfilled heart, and the potential to store up treasures in heaven. Once you take hold of it, once you begin to feel the change generosity brings into your life, you will feel a strong calling to share the message with others.
